WONDERFUL FOOTSTOOL!
This is a really nice little footstool. People it isn't wobbly if you put a little glue on legs as you screw them into the base. All furniture that have screw in parts you must put a little glue on as you screw in the parts. If you do this it will never wobble. So ignore people that say this... -
Oak Storage Foot Stool
This little foot stool was just what I needed in my small livingroom. I have a little blind dog who needs a booster to help him get onto the sofa and this is just the right size. It's made of wood, not like the cardboard doggie steps sold everywhere, and the cushy upholstered top lifts for a nice...

Back when my grandfather was alive he made a footstool. I remember this footstool being my seat of choice when we were visiting (maybe once a year). After he passed it made it's way into my home. It needs some help, the legs are coming off and...
I did this with my Grandmothers sewing footstool. (it holds sewing supplies in the seat) But it lost the quality I loved it for.
It sounds like you need new brackets or screws or bolts to hold the legs in place. The top could then be reupholstered.

I have in mind to make a large cube-shaped footstool. Would a piece of foam, covered in fabric hold its shape? Maybe beanbag beans? I'd love any suggestions.
And how would it fare if I were to sit on it? I want it to have a degree...
You'd be surprised how expensive foam is, but it's your best bet. Your are going to need to put some type of frame under it if you want to be able to sit on it, however. I suggest going to a 2nd hand store or Salvation Army type store, and looking for old footstools in about

1St, I have not built this. As far as your bandsaw, the head rest will be the biggest job because you have to cut (like a resaw) the curve on both sides. If you take a 2x6 to your bandsaw and just try to do a full straight resaw, I think you will see your saw will not have enough power for fir. When you use the hardwood you plan to use for the project, it gets worse.
Gigantic 555 footstool - Hack a Day
Ha, I love it!
Regarding a scaled up *functional* version. The original 555′s output driver can source/sink 200ma. When it switches, both source and sink transistors are momentarily active; resulting in a 200ma shoot-through.
So when Brian suggested scaled-up electronics, I couldn’t help but imagine the incredibly nasty spikes it would cause if the output current were also scaled up proportionately. :)
Wikipedia says that there are more than a billion 555′s manufactured every year (and I have no reason to doubt it), that’s such a staggering number when you think about it.
One word of criticism on this project though, I don’t think the thickness of the legs are to scale at all, but it’s not a big distraction and would require steel legs to be correct and maintain stability and somehow it looks OK as it is.
That thing looks like it’s way heavier than it needs to be. An electron tube version of a 555 timer inside wouldn’t be a bad idea for Winter comes around, and a space heater for the room is desired. I’d definitely would buy a cutting pattern for this if they would make one available. I’d hollow it out and build a poor man’s version of the Eden Pure room heater inside.
