Try to Clean the Black Mold off my Cutting Board or just Throw it away?

I just discovered a leak in my kitchen which, had probably been occurring for months. 2 of my nice, large, wood cutting boards were sitting in water and their edges were covered in moist, black and green mold. YUCK!


In my opinion you would not want to go to a doctor that was going to use a wooden instrument on you that he/she had used on another patient. You'd be thinking that no matter how much it was cleaned "germs" could be lurking between all those wood fibers.

Can I use regular wood for a cutting board?

I just got a large work table and I can not find a cutting board big enough to cover it. Can I just use regular wood? Or is that not safe? Or does the wood need to be treated first? If so with what? I can not really afford a custom cutting board...


No, you can't because you can't verify what kind of wood it is, its origin. Wood is too porous to use for a cutting board unless you use it for dry goods only such as cutting bread. OR you are willing to put it through a dishwashing machine which will sterilize it or you are

Have arrived from China, and now they're getting transported to Tucson, but they are on American soil. If you saw last week, the stairwell and some infrastructure of the board is still being installed. It's been pretty good weather during the day, so we haven't had a lot of weather delays since most of the rain has come at night.

When will everything be put together and ready for testing?

That'll be the last week of August.

That's cutting it close to the Sept. 3 home opener, isn't it?

Absolutely, we are.

Are there any concerns about that not being finished in time?

I'll feel a lot better when we kick off that first game and that thing's working. Any time you're dealing with a structure and technology of that magnitude, there are certainly opportunities for bugs. We've got our technical team and operations folks and the people installing the board working real hard on it.

I was able to choose which cutting board I wanted to review, and although I wanted a cool looking puzzle one, I chose the large wooden cutting board with handle . I chose the large cutting board with the handle since this is our first cutting board, because we don't have a lot of space and because I like the handle! The large wooden cutting board is made from 100% maple wood, and is 10.5" wide, 16" long, and 3/4" thick. It's a really good size cutting board. It's also reversible with one side having a liquid groove. I love the look of the maple wood and that the cutting board is nice and sturdy. I also like that one side has the liquid groove, perfect for cutting meats, and also a great way to remember which side you use for meat and which side you use for vegetables and other dry products. The website recommends keeping your cutting board oiled, to help prevent cracks. The oil is not included (would be nice!...
