What is the best cordless electric fillet knife?

I want to get my dad a cordless electric fillet knife for his birthday. We go freshwater fishing about once a month and catch mostly trout and bass, and it's never more than a cooler full.

Rapala makes a fine cordless knife.

What is the most efficient electric fillet knife on the market?

I'm looking for a fillet knife for my dad who cleans large coolers of fish at a time. I need something that won't burn up half way through the cooler.

I have used an American Angler electric fillet knife for the last 5 years and it's still going strong. I have averaged close to 200 bass a month for 6 months out of the year. That comes to around 6000 bass over that 5 year period. It's the only fillet knife I have ever owned

Default drink/cocktail of choice? Depending on the mood, a nice hoppy beer or a Negroni.

Name three drinks/cocktails you’ll never have again? Black Russian, Royal Reserve and my dad’s homemade red wine. All because of some very bad mistakes made as a teenager.

Is there a local bartender who could sell you anything?  Giovanni at Campagnolo always makes me feel welcome.

Your favourite sound? The clicking sound your knife makes as you fillet a salmon.

Your least favourite sound? Metal on metal.

Your favourite smells? Chicken stock, sautéing mushrooms, fresh cookies, cedar, rosemary, duck fat, bread, butter…I could go on and on.

Product Review – Rapala Cordless Electric Fillet Knife

I fillet a lot of fish throughout each given year and I’ve been trying all sorts of knives. I’ve tried all sorts of standard knives and two different electric knives. Some with better results than others. My favorite until recently was Rapala’s Electric fillet knife. The only down side is that I had to drag a car battery with me or have a working cigarette lighter outlet on the boat to make it work. It worked really well except for the wired hassle.

So, this past Christmas I was at Bass Pro and saw the holy grail of fillet knives…. a CORDLESS version of Rapala’s awesome electric knife. I figured if it filleted fish as well as the corded version I would be thrilled! Well, after two months of use, I can tell you I have found the be all and end all of fillet knives.

Rapala uses great serrated blades on their electric knives. Way better than the Mister Twister electric I tried in the past. The Rapala blades on my old (and now out of commission, because I left it out in the rain, corded knife) never seemed to get dull even after a year of heavy use. Where as the Mister Twister electric knife had three blade replacements in less than 9 months. After 2 months of use with the new cordless Rapala, the blades are still sharp as ever....

Following that give a slight push on the flexible blade and move it along the back bone slicing along without disturbing the back bone.

Next, once you reach the tail of the fish, stop so that you can hold the fish by its end or tail.

After that, open the fish up, keep it on the table and then keep the blade under the skin of the fish.

Next slightly bend the blade on the rib cage of the fish to remove the tiny bones that were remaining in any additional pieces that you may have can be used for stock in any kind of fish soup that you'd like. You can then enjoy your fish wholeheartedly without getting stuck with lots of bones. Therefore, an knives are very sharp, so keep them away from young children. While cleaning the blade use some cotton with soap so that the blade doesn't get damaged or rusted. Use gloves on both hands to prevent any accidents while cutting.
