I used to have one of these knife sets years ago but lost it in a move. It was made with pride in the USA. Beautiful craftsmanship. The item I got now is a sad, made in China (ofcourse) piece of garbage. The box is made if some unidentifable sort of plastic made to look somewhat like of wood.... -
not what it used to be
My cousin has this same knife set that he got years back. I bought a knife set for myself recently and I find that the quality is less than that of the older makes. The handles feel cheap and the box is not as fine as the older one. Still an overall good knife set.

From September to December, the Durham College students turn Maxwell Heights and its commercial-grade kitchen into Bistro Max -- a restaurant open Wednesday and Thursday evenings with three-course meals available for $15 and $16 per person.
Although the students are training for a career in hospitality, the Durham College program provides them with a background in culinary skills as well as the front of house, which is where they would typically be, according to their teacher Peter Lee.
"They're doing really well," Mr. Lee said, standing in the kitchen alive with the smell of bacon and the cling and clang of pots, pans, and chopping knives.
All around him, students sliced fruit, prepared vegetables, and whisked hot cream for their fast approaching service that evening. Up for grabs on the pre-set menu: cream of mushroom soup or Caesar salad; roast pork loin, fish and chips or spaghetti and meatballs; and crème brulee or a fruit platter for dessert.
