Cleveland school board will vote on $13 million in cuts
The Cleveland school board plans to ax about $13 million with one vote tonight, but most of the impact will play out over time.
School board President Denise Link said the cuts will likely match the $13.3 million that district chief Eric Gordon outlined in two public meetings last week. That plan eliminates preschool, summer school, many sports and activities, and busing for high school students.
"We don't have a lot of other ones we can make," Link said. "We have to make difficult choices because we've been cutting constantly over the last two years."
The district has also polled parents and other residents by phone, at the two meetings and online to help guide what to restore if money becomes available.
Gordon has planned to carry out the cuts in three phases, some starting immediately and others not occurring until spring in the hope that another solution can be found. The cuts likely to bring the most howls - busing, preschool and sports - would not start until second semester.
NAAE Communities of Practice: Cutting Board
I was wondering if anyone had easy to use/follow plans for cutting boards. I would like to use cutting boards as an assesment for our power tool unit. For example, students will need to use table saw, drill press, router, planer, etc. Even if you don't have plans that use all these tools, a list of materials would be awesome! Thanks!
